Yulia Vyacheslavovna Lipnitskaya is a Russian former figure skater who captivated the world with her extraordinary talent, emotional performances, and historic achievements at an exceptionally young age. Born on June 5, 1998, in Yekaterinburg, Russia, she rose to international fame during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, where she became the youngest Russian athlete to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics, contributing significantly to Russia's victory in the team event. 

🧒 Early Life and Skating Beginnings

Raised by her mother, Daniela Leonidovna Lipnitskaya, Yulia began skating at the age of four under coach Elena Levkovets in her hometown. Recognizing her daughter's potential, Daniela made the pivotal decision to move to Moscow in 2009, where Yulia joined the renowned coaching group led by Eteri Tutberidze.

Lipnitskaya's competitive career is marked by remarkable accomplishments:

• 2012: Won the World Junior Championships, setting junior world records in the free skate and total score. 

• 2014: At age 15, contributed to Russia's gold medal in the inaugural Olympic team event at the Sochi Winter Olympics, becoming the youngest Russian athlete to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. 

• 2014: Secured the European Championship title, becoming the youngest women's singles skater to do so. 

• 2014: Earned a silver medal at the World Championships.

Her performances were noted for their technical precision and emotional depth, particularly her free skate to the theme from Schindler's List, which garnered international acclaim.

After retiring from competitive skating in 2017 due to health challenges, including anorexia nervosa, Lipnitskaya transitioned into coaching. She joined the coaching staff at Evgeni Plushenko's skating academy, contributing her experience to train the next generation of skaters. 

In her personal life, Yulia welcomed her first child, a daughter named Katalina, in June 2020 with her then-partner Vladislav Tarasenko. In June 2024, she married Dmitri Mikhailov, a Russian figure skating coach and choreographer, and the couple had a son in September 2024.
